Principal Investigator

Boyu Zhou 周博宇
Boyu is currently an assistant professor at the School of Artificial Intelligence, Sun Yat-sen University, where he works as the director of the Smart Autonomous Robotics (STAR) group.  He has won the HKUST Academic Excellence Award and the Shanghai Outstanding Graduate Award. His research interests include aerial and mobile robots, motion planning, autonomous exploration, dense mapping, 3D reconstruction, and multi-robot systems. He has published prestigious papers in robotics, including TRO, RAL, ICRA, IROS and ISRR. His work has been listed as the most popular paper in TRO and RAL (highest ranking No. 1). The research results have been reported by well-known technology media, such as IEEE Spectrum. His open source projects about aerial robot motion planning (Fast-Planner) and autonomous exploration (FUEL) have received more than 2000 stars (since 2023.05).
